Stellingen van bisschop Gerard de Korte
Ruim zes jaar geleden verscheen er een boekje over de relatie tussen de Protestantse kerken en de Rooms Katholieke Kerk Onlangs is bisschop de Korte van Groningen/Leeuwarden benoemd tot bisschop van Den Bosch en zal op 11 mei geïnstalleerd worden. Het is interessant om de insteek van de nieuwe bisschop van Den Bosch kort weer te geven. Hoe kijkt deze bisschop én toptheoloog aan tegen de rol van de Rooms Katholieke Kerk in een veranderende wereld? De Korte noemde het ergens: open orthodoxie.
Geloof
- Mijn geloof is het geloof van de Kerk. Via ouders, priesters, leraren en andere parochianen doorgegeven. Zij hebben mij in verbinding met God gebracht.
- Het gaat in mijn geloof over de drie-enige God. In de kracht van de Geest kan ik via de Zoon het hart van de Vader bereiken. Het gaat om relationeel geloof.
- Deze God leer ik kennen via de Heilige Schrift. De Bijbel vormt het menselijke getuigenis van Gods openbaring. We moeten open staan voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar deze teksten.
- Deze God is voor mij de God van de uittocht en van het verbond en van de Schepping.
- Het geloof in incarnatie [menswording] impliceert dat Gods openbaring in Jezus Christus het kloppende hart vormt van de Bijbel.
- Gods openbaring in Christus gaat in de kern over de verzoening van onze zonden, over het doorbreken van de macht van de doden en het leven in dienstbare navolging.
- De Kerk, als wereldwijde gemeenschap rondom Jezus Christus is geroepen om sacrament van de wereld te zijn. Naar belofte wordt de Kerk door Gods Geest "bij de waarheid" gehouden.
- Er bestaat een nauwe band tussen Eucharistie en diaconie. Christus is niet alleen aanwezig in het sacrament maar ook in de naaste, in het bijzonder in de arme en kwetsbare mens.
- Maria is voor mij de belangrijkste heilige. Zij is moeder van de Heer en tegelijk het grote voorbeeld van waarachtig christelijk leven.
- Ik leef vanuit de hoop op een thuiskomen bij God en de voltooiing van het koninkrijk van gerechtigheid en vrede.
Schrift en Traditie
- Binnen de RKK wordt de Bijbel vanouds altijd gelezen binnen de kerkgemeenschap.
- De Kerk gaat aan de Schrift vooraf. De rooms-katholiek leest en interpreteert de Heilige Schrift in het licht van de kerkelijke traditie.
Paus
- De positie van de paus binnen het geheel van wereldwijde christelijke gemeenschap blijft in het theologische gesprek met de Protestantse en Oosters Orthodoxe christenen een spannend thema.
- Misschien komt er in de nabije toekomst meer ruimte voor herkenningen en erkenning als de paus een van zijn mooiste titels, dienaar van de dienaren Gods consequent invulling geeft.
